Resting Bitch Face

mixed media, OCartistoftheyear

30×18, Ink, Watercolor, Scratchboard

Lured in by the unconventional ideas that go through our mind as teenagers, I thought about the obstacles we face and the unfair societal beliefs that are placed among people who are different, allowing me to use this piece to rebel against the conformed ideas of what we should look like, how we should think, and how we should behave. No one should have to hide from society because of the societal ideas about beauty. My aim for this piece was to portray the unconventional and “ugly” side of teenage angst that people often pry away from, to rebel against society’s standards of beauty against people who may not fit into a certain criteria of what beauty is and to give courage to those who wish to stand up for themselves.
